Squeaky clean.

I didn’t get any sleep last night, at least I don’t think so. The oppressive atmosphere was worse, thankfully Emma and the kids slept through the whole night, I know as I listened to Emma’s light snoring and I did check on the kids several times. The whole time I felt as though I was being watched, as though a heavy cloud was tethered to my back. The times when I found myself dozing off a myriad of faces formed, hovered and swam in the murky darkness behind my closed eye-lids. The rushing and pounding of blood and my heartbeat grew and intensified to the point where I could not separate the gentle ticking of our ‘Big-Ben’ alarm clock from them. Night-time is always worse, the imagination and paranoia normally dormant during sunlight hours run riot and take control. Last night was the worst night I can remember in my life, by the time the first orange glowing rays of the welcome dawn broke through the narrow gap in the curtains I was panting and full of panic.

As usual Emma awoke as soon as the sun became the major influence and the darkness began to recede. She was surprised to see me awake and even more so when I got up and made her breakfast. As I made the tea and toast the previous night’s events played heavily on my mind, I knew that I had to put my plan into action. The last thing I wanted to do was to worry Emma, or even worse let the kids know that something major was amiss.

At the first convenient moment I took the hard drive and pretended to leave for work. I had no intention to drive for any distance with a thousand souls following behind me.

My plan:

I’m home. All done. I know that I have a clean, fresh house. I’ve opened a bottle of wine and intend to have a damn good think about the events of the last few weeks.

Definitley, definitely, more, and the finish of it all, later.

  1. How would you get the hardrive secured in there without arousing suspicion or it being dug up in the future?
